About Us

Our mission and responsibility are to restore the health of our patients by offering the highest standard of medical care and treatment. We are committed not only to healing but also to providing comfort and emotional support to those who may be feeling unwell or anxious due to illness.

At the Department of Medical Oncology, we utilize all modern therapeutic approaches, including chemotherapy, targeted therapy, hormonal therapy, and immunotherapy. Chemotherapy regimens are available for all types of solid tumors, and advanced polychemotherapy protocols are employed in the treatment of various hematologic malignancies. We also offer comprehensive palliative care services to support patients throughout their treatment journey.

In close collaboration with all departments of the German Medical Institute (GMI), we are dedicated to providing individualized care tailored to each patient's unique needs and circumstances. Our therapies follow the latest international medical guidelines and aim to both relieve suffering and treat disease with compassion and precision.

Our medical and nursing staff are always ready to offer guidance, support, and reassurance. Treatments are delivered in a serene, welcoming environment with panoramic views of the sea and the city of Limassol. Together, we look out the window and envision a brighter tomorrow for all.

Equipment

The Medical Oncology department at the German Medical Institute (GMI) is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, which is regularly updated, upgraded, and maintained to the highest standards. One of our exclusive services in Cyprus is the use of Scalp Cooling technology to reduce hair loss during chemotherapy, a method that has shown considerable success.

Our two modern day-care units provide a stunning view of Limassol Bay, and the surroundings are enhanced by contemporary, colorful artwork to create a calm and patient-friendly atmosphere.

Research

The Medical Oncology department at the German Medical Institute (GMI) offers a variety of clinical trials designed for patients with different types of cancer. We are committed to providing all our patients with access to the most advanced diagnostic and therapeutic innovations. Clinical trials at GMI represent an essential part of our ongoing mission to expand treatment possibilities and drive progress in cancer care.

The Department

The Department of Medical Oncology at GMI is composed of a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, researchers, and allied health professionals who specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and long-term follow-up of cancer patients. Guided by our motto “Compassion Drives Innovation,” we are committed to providing compassionate, personalized care.

Our esteemed physicians are highly specialized in specific cancer types, ensuring cutting-edge, tailored treatment. In parallel, they actively participate in pioneering cancer research, including clinical trials and the identification of novel molecular biomarkers in tissue and blood. These innovative studies aim to expand treatment options and improve outcomes for our patients.

The department also plays an active role in medical education by training future medical professionals and oncology specialists.

Our focus is on individualized therapies for solid tumors, including chemotherapy, combination (polychemotherapy) regimens, immunotherapy, and hormonal treatments. We also provide out-patient emergency care and first-aid support for patients experiencing side effects from cancer treatments.

At GMI, we do not believe in a "one-size-fits-all" approach. We are committed to delivering personalized care that takes into account each patient’s diagnosis, lifestyle, and personal preferences.

Our Medical Oncology department is further supported by our paramedical team, offering services such as psychological counseling, integrative oncology therapies (including yoga and acupuncture), and the GMI Patient Advocacy Program, all aimed at enhancing the quality of life and care for our patients.
