Charalampos Pappas
Intensivist
Dr. Charalambos Pappas is a Pulmonologist and Intensive Care Physician with many years of hospital experience in Greece, having held permanent positions in Pulmonology–Tuberculosis and Intensive Care.
He graduated from the University of Patras Medical School and completed his specialty training in Pulmonology–Tuberculosis in Athens at the “Sotiria” General Hospital for Chest Diseases of Athens, and in Intensive Care in Heraklion, Crete, at the University Hospital of Heraklion. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Bioethics from the interdisciplinary postgraduate program of the University of Crete and the School of Law of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA).
Areas of particular interest in his research and clinical work have included respiratory physiology and exercise testing, diffuse interstitial lung diseases, bronchial asthma clinics, diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy, care and end-of-life issues in terminally ill patients, invasive mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring, and whole-body ultrasonography of critically ill patients. He has maintained a sustained and ongoing interest in moral philosophy and its implications and applications in contemporary bioethical issues.

Education/Academic Experience
Graduated from the Medical School of the University of Patras with a degree graded “Very Good” in 1999.
Specialist training in Pulmonology–Tuberculosis from 2002 to 2007 at the 10th Pulmonology Clinic of the “Sotiria” General Hospital for Chest Diseases of Athens (G.N.N.TH.A.).
Obtained the specialty title in Pulmonology–Tuberculosis on November 16, 2007.
Since 2018, holder of a Master’s Degree in Bioethics from the Postgraduate Program of the Department of Philosophy and Social Studies of the University of Crete, in collaboration with the Departments of Biology, Medicine, and Sociology of the University of Crete and the School of Law of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), graduating with distinction (“Excellent”).
Obtained the qualification in Intensive Care Medicine on November 9, 2021, while serving as a Consultant Physician in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the University Hospital of Heraklion (PAGNI).
