Panayiotis Kyzas

Professor Oral and Maxillofacial Head & Neck Surgeon

Professor Panayiotis Kyzas is a world renowned Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial / Head & Neck Surgeon. He specialises in Head and Neck Oncological Surgery (ablation and reconstruction), laser surgery, facial aesthetics, facial trauma, and salivary gland disease, and has a particular interest and case-portfolio for 3D printer – guided, patient specific, personalised surgery (PSP). He has relocated to Cyprus from the UK.


Professor Kyzas has graduated from Paralimni Lyceum. He was valedictorian for his graduation year. During his high school years, he has represented Cyprus in numerous regional and International Olympiads in Chemistry and Mathematics. He has won the bronze medal in the 1996 Chemistry Olympiad in Moscow. After completing his military service, he studied dentistry at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He graduated with Honours (Αριστα, 9.1/10), first amongst all the dental students and was honored to read out the Hippocratic oath at the graduation ceremony.  Following that, he studied medicine at the University of Ioannina, and graduated again with Honours (Αριστα, 9.1/10). Throughout both his undergraduate degrees he was awarded numerous awards and scholarships.


Professor Kyzas completed his PhD thesis in H&N Cancer with Honours (Αριστα), producing several highly cited influential publications. He has published > 70 scientific papers in high impact journals and has > 6000 citations.

Following his studies, Professor Kyzas has undertaken postgraduate training in the UK and was successful in securing a very competitive training post in the UK Higher Specialty Training Programme for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He was trained in some of the biggest University Teaching hospitals in the North West of the UK. He has been awarded the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery by the General Medical Council (GMC). Subsequently, he was successful in securing one of the very few and prestigious UK-wide Training Interface (TIG) Fellowships in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology. He has successfully completed his fellowship and was awarded the subspecialty of Head and Neck Surgery by the Joint Committee of Surgical training (JCST).
